Superbond™ product is a high-strength mortar cement offering enhanced bond properties for applications that call for maximum compressive strength and workability along with top-notch adhesion.
This product is designed for loadbearing, reinforced masonry walls, and reinforced construction in high wind environments and in all seismic zones Argos Superbond™ meets or exceeds all applicable chemical and physical requirements of ASTM C1329.
Physical Properties:
Argos Superbond™ provides an excellent level of performance in the functional areas of workability, board life, bond, and compressive strengths, durability, and appearance.
Argos Superbond™ Mortar Cement Type S is a specially formulated blend of portland cement, plasticizers, and other agents that will meet all the requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) standard, Cementitious Material for the Preparation of Type S Mortar. When mixed in accordance with the proportions listed in ASTM C270, the resultant mortar exhibits higher bond strengths which makes it an ideal one-bag replacement for portland cement and hydrated lime systems. It exhibits excellent workability and delivers long board life. Type: Argos Superbond™ can be used to produce mortar for use in brick, block, and stone masonry construction in all seismic zones. When proportioned in accordance with the IBC Table 2103.7(1), TMS 402-15/ACI 530.1-13/ASCE 6-13 or ASTM C270 table for Type S mortar, no further cement needs to be added to make Type S Mortar.
Limitations:
Argos Superbond™ is designed to be batched in a mechanical mixer at the rate of one bag of Superbond™ to 2-1/4 to 3 cubic feet of mason’s sand conforming to ASTM C144 and sufficient water to bring the resultant mortar to a desired workability. Mortar should be mixed for a minimum of 5 minutes after all materials have been charged into the mixer. The further addition of portland cement and/or hydrated lime is neither required nor recommended.
Precautions:
Direct contact with wet cement should be avoided. If contact occurs, the skin should be washed with water as soon as possible. Exposure can cause serious, potentially irreversible tissue destruction in the form of chemical (caustic) burns. If cement gets into the eyes, immediately rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention. For more information, reference the applicable Argos Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The SDS should be consulted prior to the use of this product and is available upon request.
